Climates of Tourism explores themes of overtourism and climate change in the Veneto. The images were shot in three locations: Venice, Verona and the less well known San Giorgio in the hills behind Verona. Once a small but thriving ski resort, San Giorgio's star has waned in recent years with the onset of climate change and the resulting lack of snow. Although like King Canute, efforts were made to subvert nature- by firing artificial snow onto the slopes from now abandoned canons- all was in vain. Elsewhere in the Veneto, cities like Venice and Verona find themselves at the other end of the tourism continuum, suffering a daily influx of visitors that is as unsustainable as the skiing in San Giorgio.
